Letter from Ralph Simpson to Brian Loventhal

March 31, 2003

Mr. Brian Leventhal
Monte Sereno

Dear Mr. Leventhal,

Thank you for meeting with us this afternoon to discuss the pool and deck we would like to have built on our property at 17682 Blanchard Drive. We did not realize when buying this house that we were already over the impervious cover limit. Here is my proposal as we discussed:

Lot Size: 26,458 sq. ft.
Impervious Cover limit: 10,583 sq. ft.

Current Impervious Cover:
- Residence5,108
- Guest House920
- Driveway2,948
- Concrete Patios  2,483
         Total11,457

Proposed Pool:
- Pool/coping922
- Pool pavers   494 (calculated at 50%)
         Total1,416

My proposal is to remove the current concrete driveway, including the pavers in the driveway which are installed on top of concrete and replace this with all pavers installed on a base of sand. This currently represents 2,948 sq. ft. of impervious cover, which would then save 1,474 sq. ft. calculated at 50% coverage.

This would allow us to add the pool we have been planning and slightly reduce the total impervious cover on our property.

Sincerely,

Ralph Simpson
